Tube dimensional inspection

Measure diameter, width, height, wall, length, straightness, twist, and feature geometry with method discipline.

Edition ASTM A513/A513M-25Succession MFG editorial teamUpdated
Tube-mill investigation must follow site lockout/tagout, guarding, stored-energy, electrical, pinch-point, hot-work, and qualified-person procedures. Never inspect, measure, or adjust moving equipment.

Control the measurement system

Define datum, location, orientation, temperature condition, instrument contact, and reporting precision. Apparent product variation can originate in fixture, method, resolution, or operator technique.

  • Measure where the requirement says
  • Avoid distorting thin wall with contact force
  • Use suitable methods for ovality and shape
  • Study repeatability before reacting to small shifts
